Founded in 2016, Blockhaus was built in a lifelong appreciation for craftsmanship, detail, and quality construction. With a background in custom carpentry, he brings a hands-on understanding of what it takes to create homes that are both well-built and beautifully finished. Outside of being Owner and Lead Carpenter of Blockhaus, he's a proud Pittsburgh sports fan, bringing the same loyalty, grit, and pride to his projects that he brings to cheering on his teams. He also shares a special bond with Rupert, who has become a familiar part of the Blockhaus family and loyal companion along the way.

Meet Rupert! Blockhaus’ unofficial but highly respected Chief Morale Officer. As John’s loyal dog and constant companion, Rupert is rarely far from his side, bringing a steady dose of personality, comfort, and good energy wherever he goes. Whether he’s tagging along for the day or keeping spirits high behind the scenes, Rupert has become a beloved part of the Blockhaus story in Charlotte NC. He serves as a reminder that loyalty, trust, and companionship matter just as much as the craftsmanship we offer as a custom home builder, specializing in custom millwork and finish carpentry, along with our role as a reliable general contractor.

Skylee Miller serves as Blockhaus’ Director of Business Operations, helping keep the company organized, connected, and moving forward in the custom home builder industry in Charlotte, NC. She helped found Craftsman Homes and brings a strong focus on client care, communication, and the details that make each client experience feel personal and professional. With her expertise in custom millwork and finish carpentry, she ensures every project reflects the highest standards. Recently relocated from Illinois with her husband, Austin, Skylee brings warmth, dedication, and a steady presence to the Blockhaus team, a trusted general contractor. Outside of work, she loves to read and is passionate about her dog and cats, who are a big part of her life and home.

Austin Miller serves as Blockhaus’ General Manager, bringing a detail-driven mindset and a genuine passion for the work behind every project. He enjoys learning about all aspects of construction, business, and craftsmanship, including custom millwork and finish carpentry, always looking for ways to grow, improve, and better support the team and clients. Married to Skylee, Austin values hard work, clear communication, and doing things the right way as a general contractor. Outside of work, he enjoys being home with Skylee and their dog and cats, where family, friends, and comfort make life full.
